In the Country Side

Islandia es sin duda un pais de contrastes, desarrollo y antiguas tradiciones conviven en una isla habitada por sólo 300.000 personas, de las cuales casi 200.000 viven en el area de Reykjavik, la capital. Es fácil sentirse atraido por la modernidad de la gran ciudad, pero donde realmente se llega a conocer este pais y su cultura es en sus enormes e inabarcables campos, levemente salpicados por pequeñas villas y granjas donde en verano los tractores no paran de cortar hierba y envolverla en rollos de plastico, los cuales ayudarán a preservarla como alimento para las ovejas durante el largo invierno.

Iceland is a country full of contrasts, developing and old traditions live together in an island with just 300.000 inhabitants, out of which 200.00 live in the Reykjavik area, the capital. It´s easy to feel attracted by the modernity of the big city, but where you really get to know this country and its culture is in its endless fields, small villages and farms, where in summer the tractors are cutting grass and rolling it in plastic in order to preserve it as food for the sheep during the winter.

Hay gente que ha nacido y ha sido educada para es siempre en el mismo lugar, gente que piensa que la estabilidad es necesaria, un objetivo a conseguir.

Yo sólo busco una forma diferente de ver el mundo. Para ello miro a través de las personas, conociendo sus historias, como la de Ahmed, un marroquí de 45 años que lleva 20 años trabajando en Europa, y que para demandar su regularización  ha decidido encerrarse con otros 200 inmigrantes en una iglesia deBruselas, donde mantienen una huelga de hambre que dura ya mas de 70 dias. La mayoría de ellos han enfermado y algunos incluso han tenido que ser hospitalizados por serios problemas mentales tras el largo ayuno.

There are people who are born and educated to always stay in the same place, who think that stability is necessary,  a goal, a challenge. 

I´m  just looking for a different way to see the world.

I look through the people, knowing their stories, as  Ahmed, a  Moroccan of 45 years old who has been working in Europe the last 20 years, and to demand his regularization has decided to shut himself with an other 200 inmigrants in a Church in Brussels, where they maintain a 70 days long hunger strike.

Most of them got sick and few even had to be sent to hospital due to several mental problems.
